Painted Sideboard

This side board has a nice solid presence in the dining room. Frame and panel construction on the sides, bottom and center dividers. Drawers and case have handcut dovetails. All solid poplar with a milk paint and oil finish outside. Inside is shellaced to keep it odor free and to make the drawers slide nicely. This piece shares a similar color as that of the Backhouse Bookcase but there is where the two diverge. This sideboard is built with the same painstaking fine traditional joinery as my other dressers and case pieces. The Backhouse Bookcase on the other hand is a primitive nailed piece. The price reflects the work involved in each.
